Over the past two decades, America has experienced profound changes.
Mass migration has changed many of the communities we grew up in. Technology has transformed how we work, communicate, and raise our children. The cost of building a family and owning a home has become more difficult than ever before for many Americans. Trust in institutions has been decimated, political divisions have intensified, and many people have become increasingly disconnected from their communities.
At the same time, many Christians have wrestled with an important question:
What does it mean to live out our faith in a rapidly changing America?
At America First Christians, we believe faith is not confined to Sunday morning.
Christianity shapes how we understand marriage, family, work, responsibility, service, leadership, compassion, freedom, and our responsibility to the communities we call home.
We believe Christians should strive to become better spouses, better parents, better neighbors, better citizens, and better leaders.
And we believe that civic participation is part of that responsibility.
America First Christians exists to bring Christians together around shared principles concerning faith, family, community, citizenship, and the future of our country.
We seek to create a community where Christians can engage thoughtfully with the major issues facing America, understand the principles behind different policy positions, and participate responsibly in civic life.
Our purpose is not to tell people which political party they must belong to.
Our purpose is to encourage Christians to think beyond party labels and ask a more fundamental question:
What kind of policies and leadership allow Christian families, churches, communities, workers, and citizens to flourish?
We believe political leaders should be accountable to the people they serve, and that Christians should be informed, engaged, and willing to participate in the institutions that shape their communities and country.
We believe the future of America will not be determined solely by politicians.
It will be shaped by Christian parents raising children, Christians leading their families, Christian neighbors serving one another, Christian citizens participating in their communities, and Christian people of faith willing to step beyond the walls of their churches and take responsibility for the world around them.
That is the spirit behind America First Christians.
