Most parents do not fail dramatically. They drift — a little more work, a little more distraction, a little less presence — until the relationship they intended to build never quite gets built.
Presence is the foundation
Children measure love in attention. Unhurried time in ordinary moments — the drive to practice, the workbench, the kitchen table — is where trust is formed and where the important conversations eventually surface.
Instruction is a parent's job
Teaching children what your family believes, and why, cannot be outsourced to a church program or a school. Read Scripture with them. Explain your reasoning. Let them see you change your mind when you are wrong.
Protection and provision
Protection today includes what enters the home through a screen, the pace the family runs at, and the financial pressure a household absorbs. Provision is more than income; it is stability.
Affection and blessing
Children should never have to guess whether their parents are proud of them. Say it out loud. Say it often. It costs nothing and it lasts a lifetime.
